On Thursday, June 19th, DC_SIGGRAPH, in conjunction with the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, will hear a presentation from John Saint Amour. Mr. John Saint Amour is a Copyright Information Specialist for Public Information at the Library of Congress Copyright Office. He will be talking about the fundamentals of copyright law and how it relates to visual artists.
The United States Copyright Office, a part of the Library of Congress, is the official U.S. government body that maintains records of copyright registration in the United States, including a copyright catalog. It is used by copyright title searchers who are attempting to clear a chain of title for copyrighted
works.

The emphasis of the talk will be about the core copyright protection available for visual artists under US Law and the basics of US copyrights.
