(Hybrid) Procedural DAT(a) Based Approach to 3D Scene Processing for Character Game Asset Production

DATE:   Tuesday, May 26, 2026

FROM:  6:30pm-8:30pm EDT

WHERE:  George Mason Regional Library (directions below)/Online

Please note the time and day change for this meeting. In-person attendees can arrive at 6:30pm EDT.

Please join the Washington DC chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH for an evening with Raffaele Scaduto-Mendola, a Washington DC area based technical artist specializing in 3D asset production who has worked at Rhythm&Hues and Dreamworks. Raffaele will discuss using custom python tools based on an abstracted simple DAT(a) scene assembly recipe. He will also explore some of the processes related to 3D asset production used in pipeline workflows to consistently, and at scale, handle creating 3D assets for game/interactive productions and data visualization.

The meeting will be hosted at George Mason Regional Library and on the Zoom platform. A link to the meeting will be provided 5 minutes prior to the presentation to all those who have responded to the announcement on our MeetUp. The link will also be visible to those who RSVP. Those who do not RSVP to the MeetUp announcement will not receive the link to the meeting.

Biography:

Raffaele Scaduto-Mendola is a Washington DC area based technical artist specializing in 3D asset production. With over 25+ years of experience in feature film/games and emerging real-time technologies spanning startups, large studios, and trailblazing companies including Rhythm&Hues and Bell Labs, Raffaele has used both his experience in engineering and artistic process in his work. Raffaele has evolved extensive automated procedures for large scale character rigging extended to 3D scene assembly closely working with teams of concept designers, modelers, animators, and programmers to bring characters to life.

Using both his technical and artistic backgrounds and experience, Raffaele is continuing to investigate new trends in technologies including AI and non-linear/multi branch procedural methods that will continue to evolve in the next few decades.
