This is an announcement for animation educators. I want to bring your attention to the approaching May 10 deadline of a new event for animation students, to be held this summer at the SIGGRAPH 2010 Conference in Los Angeles. The SIGGRAPH 2010 Computer Animation Festival is offering, for the first time ever, an Animation Clinic, where industry leaders and animation masters will review current students’ final projects and works-in-progress, and offer creative, production, technical and career advice. Between six and nine student projects will be selected. Each chosen work will receive 40 minutes of review during three public sessions open to conference attendees. Entrants are required to submit a synopsis, a storyline, storyboards, animation tests, examples of visual development, and character designs of work from the 2009–2010 academic year. We are very interested in receiving submissions from your best students, especially final-year projects, for what will be a great opportunity for a professional critique of their work and a chance for invaluable industry exposure. Please encourage your students to apply with their finished work and works-in-progress as soon as possible—the deadline is fast approaching. Students may submit their work online by filling out the SIGGRAPH 2010 Computer Animation Festival online submission form, available at… www.siggraph.org/s2010/for_submitters/computer_animation_festival …and by following the standard criteria for CAF submission, with the materials required as outlined above and on the website. Please be sure your students indicate their interest in the Animation Clinic specifically. The submission deadline is 10 May 2010. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you, and we’ll see you in L.A. in July, Steve Rittler SIGGRAPH 2010 Animation Clinic Producer Associate Professor of Animation School of Visual Arts, New York William Paterson University, New Jersey srittler@nyc.rr.com
